Price notifications register

This register contains:

  • copies of all locality notices (given to the ACCC under section 95Z of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (CCA)) which have been considered by the ACCC;
  • a statement of the outcome of the ACCC’s consideration of the notice (including any action taken by it in relation to the notice and the outcome of any such action), and a statement of the ACCC’s reasons for that outcome; and
  • copies of any notices given under Part VIIA of the CCA to or by the ACCC in relation to the locality notice.

This register is maintained pursuant to section 95ZC of the CCA, which commenced on 1 March 2004. Prior to this day, the ACCC kept a register of price notifications pursuant to section 23(1) of the Prices Surveillance Act 1983 (PSA) , which has now been repealed. When section 95ZC commenced, the register in place under section 23(1) of the PSA effectively became the register under section 95ZC (see Trade Practices Legislation Amendment Act 2003, schedule 2, item 49). This is why the earlier items on this register are addressed to the requirements of the PSA, rather than Part VIIA of the CCA.
